We’ve been hard at work on using Perian to play YouTube video in a QuickTime video player. We now have a much more reliable method of finding the videos and downloading them, which means that there’s no more ambiguity before trying to play a video as to whether or not it will actually play. Perian’s also given us the ability to scrub through every frame in the movie, and not just to certain frames, like YouTube’s player (although this is a limitation of Flash, and so the same behavior is seen at Google Video, Dailymotion, Revver, etc.). Performance is also much better. And down the line, we’ll start using Core Video to clean up the video files.
We’re in the process of wrapping up the integration. When we’re done, we’ll push out a new version (finally) to everyone in the beta.
Also, I’m sorry for the lack of updates lately, but college work never ends.

at 2:00 am on February 5, 2007,Hi I have created a Google Group to Discuss the App.
This is in *NO* way affiliated with Steve Streza or Tubular.
This is a interim solution until a Forum is implemented.
Google Group is here :

at 12:26 pm on February 12, 2007,Why should Steve respond when he never bothers to respond to anyone anyhow except to say that college life is busy?
I am also irked by the comments that talk about the ost of the app and the idea that we must be cheap or mean or get a life or whatever because the app doesn’t cost a lot of money. Point of fact for me is that it isn’t the cost, it’s the act of taking money and not delivering (that’s right, it’s the principal). What Steve manages to take to a new art form is the fact that he somehow seems to think that his busy life is reason to blow off users who are payers and that boggles the mind! Man-up here Steve-O or refund the money!
